| ||Model of the car:||Lexus ES300|
| ||General comments:||This is really my wife's car. She does a lot of driving for her work, and wanted something comfortable. We debated between a new Camry (or similar) vs. a 3 year old Lexus for about the same $$$. However, the used Lexus came with a longer bumper-to-bumper warrany than the new Camry. Also, my wife needs her car every day, and Lexus provides a free loaner when you bring your car for service. That clinched it!!She previously drove a Ford Crown Vic, and thought that she loved that "big boat" feel. However, she has learned to appreciate the ES300's nimbleness. Two relatively minor complaints- CD player (in trunk-- she never remembers to load new CD's, and those same songs are driving her nuts!!), and location of cup holder (it obscures radio & climate controls). I think both were corrected in later models. Note, however, that Lexus service is very expensive: almost $400 for the 60,000 mile check up. However, I have to admit that Lexus volunteered to replace 2 struts under warranty (no deductible!!). Maybe you do get what you pay for!!Conclusion- My wife loves her Lexus ES300. She is considering getting rid of it after the warranty runs out to avoid high repair costs (probably at about 95K miles, so it will have some transferable warranty), and will probably get another Lexus.|
| ||What things have gone wrong with the car:||Expensive to maintain (even if nothing breaks). CD player (6 CD's in trunk) is inconvenient. Cup holder is also inconvenient. Both better on later models.|
